Lost No Way back

The new arrival

“If you come any closer, I’ll leave you limp on the ground!” he shouted loudly.

“Hey cool it.”I said, “I’m not your enemy and who are you?”

“I’m Prinz Carren.” he replied,

“Where am I ?” I asked

“You are on the planet of Tauck `Nau in the desert city of Comodra,”Prinz replied. “Also what are those things on your ears, are they some sort of ear muffs?”

“You don’t know about headphones!” I yelled, “Speaking of ears, why are yours triangles?”

“What’s wrong with them? Everyone has triangle ears.?” Prinz replied

“Oh really.”I said grinning. I took off my headphones and revealed my round ears.

“What!?!”Prinz exclaimed. “Okay you and me have a lot to explain but for now let’s get back to the city.”

We were walking for a long amount of time. Eventually we arrived at the city. It was made out of stone and waterfalls came down from a high rock above the city. There were plenty of people and each one wore strange clothes with weird patterns. It was clearly an isolated city because the only other people that I saw were the dictator jacket people that followed us. When we arrived at where Prinz was staying I looked up and saw a huge structure with clean features that made me impressed by it.

“So this is where you’re staying is it a hotel or an estate?”I asked

“It’s a hotel.” Prinz replied

We walked inside and I was unimpressed by no automatic or glass doors.

“What year is this?”I asked

“1600, why?”He replied and asked

“What!!! Are you serious!?!”I Yelled

“Uhh…. yeah why are you so shocked?” He asked

“I’m from 3012!”I exclaimed

“Um, let’s talk when we get to our room.” Prinz said, looking at something like he was making sure no one was looking.

We walked up the stairs and went until we reached the 10th floor. We walked down the hall and reached room 1123 and Prinz opened the door to a large room big enough for at least thirty people. As the people flooded in I noticed Prinz motioning me over. He took me over into a small room.

“While you were being all loud on how everything was, I noticed a strange man looking at you. Don’t yell, don't scream while you are in this city. I hope that he doesn’t know you’re here but to keep you safe don’t travel far from here.” Prinz kept quiet as if the man he found was behind him.

He opened the door and let me out. He had me take a seat and soon we started discussing on when and where we are from.

“So you’re telling me you are from a planet called earth, from a city named New York in the year 3012.” Prinz said.

“Yeah, and I am in the year 1600 , on the planet of Tauck`nau and in a desert city called Comodra.” I asked

“Yes. Also what are these headphone things? And can you tell me about your planet and its people? And how can a planet be ruled by multiple rulers?” Prinz asked

“So headphones are little music players that go over your head and cover your ears. My planet has scattered weather patterns, blue skies, big land masses and huge oceans. The people on my planet are all different and each one of them has a different hobby. And there are many different places that require many different rulers to keep it all steady.”I explained.

“Wow, I never knew that technology would come past this,” Prinz said. After he said that he pulled out two twin guns from a belt with small little pouches.

“Whaaaaat?”I said. “They only have these things in video games.”

“How old are you Jay?”Prinz asked.

“About eleven.”I replied “What about you?”

“13 and a half,”Prinz replied.

We kept conversing before a bell rang seven times. I’m guessing that means it’s seven o’clock. After an hour had passed and the bells rang eight times. Prinz stood up, took off his jacket and replaced his black tee.

“I would suggest you get some sleep, we head for the woodland city Taragann on the morn.”Prinz said.

“Wheres my bed?”I asked.

Prinz led me to a room with a medium sized bed and a large closet. The bed was rather soft despite its look. The pillows were very fluffy and the sheets were nice and warm.

“ Sleep well Jay,”Prinz said.

• It could have some more description - something to really set you in the place/time and feel the character's shock at being placed into this world - or maybe a short prologue or leadup to the beginning!

• I had a prologue but I'm writing this with a friend and he wrote it before me.

The journey

“Jay…Jay…Jay!!!”Prinz shouted.

“Aahh!”I exclaimed “Dude you scared my but off!”

“Sorry but here's your breakfast, we have got to get moving.” Prinz said, sounding rushed.

I quickly ate the fruity oat meal-ish thing which tasted amazing. I got in my for the day clothes and rushed out the door. I saw Prinz next to two people. One was clearly older with sharp looking hair brushed to the side, the other one with a ponytail and the same kind eyes. I noticed that they each had a small bubble floating next to them holding their belongings.I noticed some of them playing cards.

“You’re gonna need to get used to early mornings.”Prinz said

“Sorry sorry but do I get a bubble I have some stuff myself?”I said

Prinz put up a finger and a bubble came out from his fingertip.

I held up my stuff and the bubble expanded around it. I tapped on it and it floated to my shoulder.

“Well let’s go.”said the older one next to Prinz.


“Agreed.” Said the girl next to Prinz.

“Wait, where are we going again?” I asked.

“Taragann.” Said the boy next to Prinz.

“What is your name?” I asked.

“Empen, and this is Para.” Empen pointed towards the other person next to Prinz.

We walked out of the room and down the stairs. Empen handed some coins and a key to a person that was standing behind a desk. Then we walked through the crowd of people that were either going to the market or setting up their own market stall. We reached the city gate and we departed into the vast dry desert. The journey is very hot and is making me very thirsty.

“Hey Prinz, do you happen to have any extra water do you?”I rasped.

He smiled. “You’re lucky I planned ahead.”Prinz tapped on his bubble and a small hole opened. He tossed me a water bottle and I immediately took a gulp and tapped on my bubble. The same thing happened. A small hole opened up and I put the bottle inside. I noticed that my bubble had little nubs which to me looked like arms and legs. There was also a cute little face and it was humming a tune.

“Prinz is my bubble supposed to be a plump creature?”I asked.

“Yeah I made it that way so we wouldn’t get bored, lonely or lost,”Prinz replied.

“Clever,”I said. But then I felt something slip through my feet. And out of nowhere a fish with sharp teeth jumped out of the sand. But then I fell down on the ground,it turned purple and faded away. I looked in front of me and saw Prinz with his sword out.

“What was that!?!”I exclaimed.

“A sand piranha,”Prinz replied.

“You’re telling me that there are piranhas that can swim through sand like water!?!”I shouted.

“There are sharks too.”Prinz said way too calm to be true

“If anything you’re making me more nervous!” I exclaimed.

“Sorry, but I've only ever encountered one once so the chances are small that you’ll see one,”Prinz said.

“So how far away is this city?”I asked.

“A couple more miles than a hundred,”Prinz replied.

“You’re kidding right?!”I said.

“Nope, but I might be kidding and might not that we have to pass through a mountain range,”Prinz said.

“Oh come on!”I exclaimed

the mountains

“Oh my, those mountains are tall!”I exclaimed.

“Yeah, well we have a lot of climbing to do,”Prinz said.

“Or we could go through the mountains,”I stated.

“No! There are rumors that a devilish creature walks those paths. They say it can make your body go cold with a simple glance, magical powers, and razor sharp claws!”Prinz exclaimed “We only go there if we have no other option.”

“Okay climbing is good,”I said quickly.

We started up a path that led up a tall mountain and through some peaks. I wondered how far this range is if it is many miles or mountains or if it is just the line that I could currently see.

“Hey Prinz, how big is the mountain range?”I asked.

“Seventy two mountains,”Prinz replied.

“So why are we going up the highest mountain and wasting our energy?”I asked.

“Because we're going to paraglide the rest of the way,”Prinz replied.

I looked up at the top. It had to be at least fourteen thousand feet in the air, I guess it would be good for paragliding. But how would we get up there, the top was in the clouds!

“Well time to climb.”Prinz said while switching his shoes to more sturdy looking ones. He handed me a pair and I quickly put them on.

“These will help you keep your footing on the way up,”Prinz explained.

Prinz told me to follow after him and I complied. When he went up I went up I went up, when he went to the side I went to the side. An hour or so passed and the top seemed closer.

“ Don’t look down.”Prinz said

But of course I looked down and saw the other people and saw how far up in the air we were. I gagged and quickly looked up in fear. I was at least ten thousand feet up in the air.

“So how long do you think it will take for us to get up there?”I asked.

“Another hour or two.” Prinz replied.

“Oh come on!”I exclaimed “Another hour of climbing without any gear ropes or anything!”

I looked and saw Prinz disappear behind a ledge. Then his head popped out again. He extended his hand and I quickly took and tried to pull myself up. But I couldn’t do it so I had Prinz also pull me up. When I got on to the ledge Prinz was carrying something into a cave. His bubble was slightly illuminating the cave. Suddenly a torch was lit and the whole cave was lit up. It was huge, tall and wide. I looked at Prinz and he was setting up a big tent towards the back of the cave.

“We’ll spend the night in here.”Prinz said.

I looked outside the cave and the sun was setting. Then my bubble flew in front of me. It blew out a smaller bubble that formed into a tent roll. I thanked it and it smiled. I set up my tent next to Prinz’s and watched his friends set up tents of their own. We all went inside our tents and fell fast asleep

The journey

Boing boing boing. I woke to see my bubble bouncing on me but when it saw that I was awake it stopped. I tapped on it and grabbed my water bottle. I went outside my tent and took the stakes out. When I was done taking down my tent I went over to Prinz which to my surprise was conversing with someone and not bringing in his tent.

“Hey, what happened to early mornings?”I asked while walking up to him.

“We were just talking about what we're going to do when we finally arrive at the imperial palace.”he explained.

“Imperial palace?”I asked.

“My home.”Prinz replied.

“Didn’t you say we were going to a city?” I asked.

“Yeah so let’s get going!” Prinz exclaimed.

“Please NOOOO I’m an inside guy!” I compliant

“Do you want to get to an actual bed or not?!” Prinz replied


“Okay.” I pouted, and slumped on the ground.

“Well if we’re going you need to get up!” Prinz yelled.

I got up, without any response and crossed my arms. Then Prinz walked out the cave followed by a girl just shorter than him.

“Who is that?!” I asked ran up and nudged Prinz on his shoulder.

“Sophie.” Prinz replied.

OH I remember now! I thought to myself and looked at Sophie.
She was just smaller than him and had kind eyes, I came over to Prinz and nudged him again.

“Nice now, where do I get a burger, I’m starving!!” I whispered in his ear.

“What the heck is a burger?!” Prinz said.

I gasped not like a short one like a big dramatic one
“You're so old, burgers are not just a food, in fact they are not food, they are paradise if you eat them, even in jail you’ll be so happy!” I exclaimed

“Well I may not know what a burger is but I do know what this is.”Prinz said while holding up a bowl. “Try this I bet my bottom dollar that this is better.”

I looked inside, and saw small fruits and extra sugared bread, and shook my head.

“No, way burgers are waaaaaaayyyyyy better!” I replied.

“Desbribe its look and what’s in it,” Prinz demanded “I might be able to make one.”

“It is made out of: Delicious meat, stupid lettuce, weird tomatoes, creamy cheese, and soft buns. Is that enough Mr. highness sir!?”I explained and asked sped up and left them in the dust

“It will do. And don’t open your mouth to those last words again or else.” Prinz pulled a sword from behind his back and sped up, now we were neck to neck “But now to the burger thing.” He drew something in the air in a glinting golden light and then a burger appeared.

“Okay, Mister smart fry!” I yelled as I sprinted in front of them again, with the burger.

But then Prinz grew claws on his fingertips and jumped in front of me. Then he put one over my chest.

“Shut it!” He said. Then he turned back to normal and walked away next to Sophie. I made a small hand puppet show to show that they were lovebirds and Prinz’s bubble came and knocked me over. Then it did the I’ll keep an eye on you two fingers thing and zoomed back to Prinz. Then I went to Para.

“What do you think of Prinz?”I asked, “ I think he’s a little annoying.”

“Is that because he can’t take names and insults?”Para asked, “But anyhow I like him I think he’s fun.”

“Fun!”I exclaimed. Then I scoffed “He’s the exact opposite. I'm surprised he has a girlfriend.”


“He just doesn’t understand you yet. When he was born and was old enough to speak, it was almost like he ignored us. But then our parents died and we had to spend more time with him. He became more secure around me and Empen.”Para said.

I rolled my eyes and walked away. I noticed everyone was leaving and going up.

“It’s time to go.”Said Empen

“Up the mountain?”I asked.

“Yep,”Empen replied. Then he put something into my bubble.

Then I walked outside and suddenly floated up next to Prinz. He made sure I had a good grip and then the floating sensation stopped and gravity returned. I climbed just below Prinz and sure I had some issues getting up but eventually the clouds touched my shoulders and the top became visible. I pulled myself up and I saw Prinz floating back down. In three minutes exact Prinz came up carrying Sophie.

“So ready to glide?”Prinz asked.

“Uh….. sure,”I replied.

“Great,”Prinz said while setting Sophie down. “How much can you go without falling?”

“From what?”I asked.

“We have fifty mountains to cover and we only stop for a rest every other ten mountains.”Prinz replied.

“I’ll just let you know when I need to float for a little.”I replied.

Then he tapped on my bubble and pulled out the thing that Empen had put in my bubble. I looked at it for a moment and realized it was a paraglider, only it wasn’t a sit down one with a motor, it was one where I actually had to hold on with my arms.

“But before we go we need to wait for the rest to get up here.”Prinz said.

We waited for at least an hour before they came up to the top which was actually in the clouds. It was like fog and I almost walked off the edge. And finally Prinz showed me how to work the glider. And then I jumped, it was a breathtaking moment but the paraglider was stronger than it looked. Then Prinz pulled up next to me.

“This really is something.”he said.

“Are you daft! I’m almost to the point of death because of this scare!”I exclaimed.

“This is a once in a lifetime experience.” Prinz said, "Enjoy it.”

“Of course you said that.”I said.

I looked down and saw the pathway that Prinz warned me about. It looked fine to me but then I heard a shriek coming from the forest and a pure red beam was visible through the trees.

“I agree with you that we should only go down there if we need to.”I said

“Shhh quiet, it has very good hearing.” He said in a harsh whisper

But right then a red beam came up through the trees and nearly hit me. It was clearly hot because I could feel the heat without it touching me. I saw Prinz go towards a mountain in front of us and touched down on the ground. I followed and put my feet on the ground. Then Prinz pulled out his twin guns and rocketed up and motioned everyone to come to the mountain.

“What in the name of carishan were you thinking when you spoke!”Prinz yelled while coming down to the ground.

“I didn’t know that it had amazing hearing!”I exclaimed.

Prinz loudly mumbled in a language that I did not understand. And I also think that it was not in my favor.

“Prinz!”Para yelled while jogging up to him, “What is the meaning of yelling those words?!”

“What did he say?”I asked.

“He said that he wished you hadn’t come on the journey.”Para replied.

“Alright that’s it!”I yelled while making lightning come up from my finger tips.

“Oh that’s how you want to play!”Prinz exclaimed while bringing out his golden sword.

“Stop!”Empen yelled.
But it was too late, I charged at him and summoned a light blue electric blast out of my fingers. He stopped it with his sword, and sliced it in half.

“What the-” I yelled but didn’t get to finish my sentence.

He dashed over in the nick of time and pummeled me with the back of his sword, and I went flying into a wall

“Are you done?” He asked lending one of his hands

“Never been as done,” I growled, taking the hand and clutching my side.”Now, who the heck was that!”

“Who the heck was who?”he asked, putting his sword away.

“ The cyclopes, who is he?!” I yelled with a lot of sarcasm.

Prinz put a hand his face and said something in a different language again and looked at me with much annoyance

”Don’t you joke with me.”He growled.

All of a sudden I became very mad

“What did I ever do to your life man, why are you so mad at me if I do something you think will start a civil war!” I shouted.

“Because this is what happened last time I had a newcomer with me!”He exclaimed while pulling up his sleeve to reveal a very serious scar.

“Come on, I'll make another one!” I yelled to make a light blue lightning bolt come out of my hands.

Prinz jumped up and clearly went on full crash out mode because he ground slammed the spot in front of me and I was heaved backwards. Then I stood up and sent a massive blast that hit him directly in the chest. As the smoke faded I saw him crouching down clearly shocked and this time I gave him my hand he took it and I saw that his jacket now had a scorched hole in the center of his chest.

“Don’t underestimate me” I whispered in his ear and my eyes went light blue with electric bolts and went back to dark brown.

He huffed and his eyes glowed yellow. I looked away and I heard a blade unsheathing. I turned around and he cut my arm with a dagger.

“You were saying.” he bragged while spinning the dagger around.

It took a lot of thinking and I held my hand out.

“Truce?”

“Yes, I'll take it.”He replied while switching his jacket. While he was doing it, I realized a mark on his hand that looked exactly like mine but a different symbol

“Your one of the forces,” I blurted out

We learned about them in class. They are a sign of your power.

“Ugh sadly I am.”He lamented

“What’s yours, mine Electricity and swift shadow?” I explained

“Mine is light power. And that also makes it so I can’t die.”He explained

“Let’s get to the city!” I shouted dumbfounded that I forgot what we were here for. And started sprinting toward the ledge of the mountain

“Agreed.” Prinz said, “It is getting late.”

He did not know what was coming next, neither did I

The attack

I jumped off the ledge without the paraglider, I did not know what I was doing. Better be sorry than safe, right?

“JAY!” Prinz yelled while diving down to me.

All of a sudden I stopped falling and I was floating by electricity.

“Aww” I said putting my head down, sad that I couldn't feel the rush of exhilaration, but that did not stay for long
A red beam was screaming and Prinz was flying with golden wings up and away from it.

“Get away from me. I’m the one it’s after!”He exclaimed.

Then and there I did a very stupid thing while he was talking the beam was about to hit him, my eyes did the bolt thingy and jumped in front of the beam and blasted a light blue electric blast

“I can hold it off, get away!” I exclaimed to Prinz

But then Prinz put himself in front of the two blasts and fell down down down into the forest.

“NOOOOOOOOO!” I screamed and got very mad, both blasts battling in the middle and something weird happened. Black was going into my beam, I was using Swift shadow!

“Ahh! Its face has tentacles,”Prinz yelled from the forest.

I beat his beam and a giant explosion appeared from the forest. I was flabbergassed, did I kill Prinz?!

But then golden flashes appeared in the forest. More flashes were happening but they were getting bigger each time. Then a dome that was expanding made of pure light was coming from the forest. And when all of that was done Prinz was floating in the air, eyes closed but one fist clenched. Golden light was coming from his eyes even though they were shut. Then he opened his eyes and they were doing the creepy glow thing.

“Welcome back to the club.” I yelled and patted him on the back.

“Hmmmmm?”He asked, “What happened?”

I grabbed his arm and shocked him for good measure

“Don’t joke around with me!” I mocked him

But instead of getting angry he laughed. He looked at me with kindness and understanding for the first time in a while.

“Copy cat.”He said.

“Ok I can accept that.” I replied

“Hey, did they start paragliding without us?”Prinz asked while pointing to the others already on a faraway mountain.

“We can do this, right?” I asked

“Well not with a paraglider.”He replied grinning. Then wings sprouted from his back, “Race ya.” Then he launched himself.

“Wait for me!” I yelled and my eyes did the bolt thingy and I launched myself in the air.

“No chance!” He called back while flying on his back.

“Oh ya?,” I yelled and my eyes turned dark blue as I teleported in front of him “See ya.”

“Oh well that’s not fair play."Prinz said sarcastically while glowing. Then he teleported in front of me, “I can do that too!”

I looked at the sunset,all of a sudden a sledge hammer came out of nowhere and smacked us in the head and I saw stars.

The fight

I woke up and I was in a cave, my head was throbbing,it was bright outside,or what I could see of it, I was tied up with Prinz, with vines. I saw a giant hunter with a lion vest, and electrocuted the vines and Prinz took out his sword and held it out to touch his neck and shouted:

“This ends now!”

“Yes it ends now!” He yelled and grabbed Prinz by the throat and chucked him into the wall.

“Who are you!?” I yelled

“My name is Scace and I killed your father!” He exclaimed

Then I was suddenly feeling very VERY angry and my eyes turned red with lightning. I was yelling while teleporting rapidly around the cave and slammed my fist down on his head. He staggered and picked up Prinz. He put Prinz’s own sword up to his throat

“Don’t move or your friend gets it!”He shouted.

“He can’t die so you think that’s a threat!”I shouted back.

“Oh but to this he can. You see, the ancient sword of gori`mir is the only existing object that can kill a force.” He explained.

But then I saw Prinz wink at me. I looked at his hand and a dagger was ready to strike. Then he plunged it into Scarce’s stomach. He dropped the sword and Prinz picked it up and ran back to me. A crimson puddle was forming on his lion’s vest.

“Let’s rock, active rage mode.” I whispered to Prinz, the red lightning bolts in my eyes glowed brighter.

“Yeah, rage mode.” He replied

We bumped fists, his eyes glowed deadly white, and mine turned raging red, we bumped again and our energy behind us, and ran at Scarce. He swinged his gold sword and it clashed with Scarce's sledge hammer, Scarce kicked the sword out of Prinz’s hands, Scarce grabbed him by the throat and held him against the wall,his face was turning pale,the sword to his neck

“LET HIM GO!” I yelled

Something happened. My eyes turned black with gray electric bolts and I blasted him with a black beam, Swift shadow! it heaved him back, so Prinz could get away. He fell motionless on the ground. What if I was too late ? What if Prinz died ! I thought, as I backflipped forward toward Scarce and kept punching his chest rapidly, gray bolts of electricity forming on my hands. He was looking down at where I was punching and his face was masked with surprise, fear, and pain. Then I did one giant punch, he got heaved back and launched onto the ground, all I felt was: rage, anger, and satisfaction. I did not like that, maybe I was getting turned into a bad guy! Maybe my power is turning everything dark, inside out. Scarce got back up and holded a weird stone up and my head started thumping, harder, and harder.

“STOP! Please stop!” I screamed

A blur of yellow and white with a sword slashed him across the stomach and came and helped me up

“Did you forget already?” Prinz asked as I got up.

“Welcome back, and no, by the way thanks for the save there,” I replied “Well? What are you waiting for!? Let’s break some bones!”


We bumped fists and his eyes turned deadly yellow, and mine turned ferocious blue, we slapped hands, our energy behind us and ran at Scarce.

“I’m gonna teach you the meaning of pain!”Prinz shouted.

“You’re gonna get beat badly!”I yelled

Prinz passed me a sword and nodded towards Scace. We jumped up in unison and brought the swords down upon Scace. A flash of light nearly blinded both of us and we stumbled back. Once the light cleared we saw Scace with one hand on the floor and one hand on his side. He looked in pain but then he had a mischievous look. He lunged for Prinz’s sword and stabbed it directly into his stomach. Now he was in the same position. Then Scace faded away.

“Prinz!”I exclaimed.

“Get….. me …….to …….the city……”Prinz said his voice fading. Then he collapsed onto the floor.

“Prinz!”I yelled in horror, I sent a lightning bolt that would form into words for his friends to see and come get us.

I looked at the vines that had tied us together when we were kidnapped. I grabbed the vines and wrapped it around his stomach, and grabbed him and sped toward gleaming lights. I saw a plus sign in the distance, the hospital!

“Don’t die on me!” I whispered into Prinz’s ear and ran harder.

My hands were turning red

I ran harder

I was tired

I ran harder

I never had a friend , I thought, so I can’t lose this one

I ran as hard as I could, and right when I got to the hospital, what! He started fading in golden light. I saw Empen running to us in the distance.

“Hurry,” I yelled,” he’s not gonna make it!”

When he arrived Prinz’s legs were gone! I gave him to Empen and hoped for the best. When they went in my vision was blurring, I touched my face and felt two moist drops.

He was one of those people I have done that for.

Epilogue

“Jay… Jay!,” Empen yelled while bursting out the door, “He’s awake!”

“What he is!” I exclaimed while jumping out of my seat.

I ran in the door and saw Prinz sitting on the bed. I was extremely happy and surprised. He looked confused though, He was spreading out his arms as if he was blind. I felt sorry for him, I hope that he will recover from that too. Suddenly, golden light started to form around Prinz, it became a ring of ancient symbols and it all flowed into him.

“Jay?” Prinz asked while regaining his focus.

“YOU’RE ALIVE!!” I yelled. While jumping up and down.

“I guess.” he replied.

He stood up and walked out the door without warning. I followed, Empen too. He was walking outside of the city and over to a small river. He stared into the water and I walked up beside him

“We might be going home.” He whispered into my ear.
